Stripe includes a Retry Policy that attempts to process rebill payments that have failed. This means if you have integrated WishList Member with Stripe and a recurring payment fails, the corresponding level won't be cancelled in WishList Member until all of the retries have been completed in Stripe. The subscription in Stripe isn't cancelled until all the rebill payments have failed. Once that last payment retry has failed and the subscription is cancelled in Stripe, the membership level in WishList Member will follow suit and be cancelled as well.
If the final retry payment fails in Stripe, the corresponding level in WishList Member will be cancelled.
Failed Payment Retry Policy
You can view the “Use a Smart Retry policy for subscription” option in the Settings > Billing > Subscription and Emails section of Stripe.
The screenshot example below shows the option is enabled and will retry the failed rebill up to 4 times within 3 weeks. If all the retries for the payment fail, Stripe will cancel the subscription.

You will also see the “Use a custom retry policy for subscriptions” option which allows you to set when the retries will occur.
In this screenshot example, you will see a quicker time line as it will retry for a series of 1 day after the previous attempts. If all the retries for the payment fail, Stripe will cancel the subscription.

The available Retry Policies in Stripe provide you with the ability to allow members to retain access while their failed rebill payment is being resolved. Once all those rebill attempts fail and the subscription is cancelled in Stripe, the level is also cancelled in WishList Member.
