The Great Lakes Electric Meter School (GLEMS) started back in 1989 with a committee composed of members of electric utilities, electric utility manufacturers, and experts in the utility field. 

The goal of the school is to be a medium for the exchange of information and techniques to help preserve and improve upon high-quality utility service. They offer a variety of courses to meter personnel.
